When working in my studio, I often get asked what #music I’m playing, so I’ve decided to start sharing my Spotify playlist. This is DUSTED Vol. 1 of many more to come. Remember to PLAY LOUD, listen and follow here. 💋🎶
Check out the video below to go behind the scenes of the shoot.
Live less out of habit and more out of intent. – Unknown
I often lose myself in the wilderness of my intentions. I try to refocus on things that matter and reset myself towards becoming better and following “the love.” For me, better means not indulging in bad habits or doing things that will set me up for disappointment.
Always shift and move forward.
GET IT: The Rachel Roy, Sleek Look.
Say yes, to new adventures, explore and find you. Do that something, you’ve always wanted to do. We are told to never judge a book by its cover, but I think it’s perfectly acceptable to judge a person by their hair. What new hair adventure do you want to take? What do you want it to say for you?
Saturday, Nov 20 from 11am to 4pm, I’ll be having a Pop-Up Salon at Delicious Pizza’s Sunday Brunch and Market. To guarantee yourself a snip, please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org. In addition to my pop-up, there will be all sorts of interesting art, tattoo, apparel and music vendors, so drop by and say hi!
Pick up the new L.A. Issue of Please Magazine starring Pamela Anderson. In between the pages, you’ll find a whimsical and glittery editorial featuring the singer/songwriter Maxine Ashley. Photographed by Arvida Bystrom and directed by Ambar Navarro. Glam squad: makeup artist, Amy Strozzi, stylist, Mar, and hair, Leticia Llesmin.
To do or not to do, eyebrows! Common misconception: Brows should always match your hair.
Sorry to disappoint, but this is not true and it’s an old-school way of thinking. Eyebrows can be anywhere between two or three shades lighter or darker than your hair color. It really depends on the look you’re trying to achieve. Rule of Thumb: The darker the brows, the edgier and bolder the look.
Cure the common hiccup, which is probably leading you to dry hair.
It doesn’t matter how concentrated your conditioner is if you’re applying it immediately after you shampoo. Most conditioners are oil based, so it’s important to squeeze excess water out, allowing the conditioner to absorb.
Rule of Thumb: After you condition, rinse with cold water to close the hair cuticle. It helps seal the cuticle by locking in moisture and allowing the hair to reflect light, which creates shiny, healthy hair.
At some point in your life, you will want to be blonde. You will have to get regular trims, hair treatments and actually comb your hair. At the end of the day, it won’t matter if you’re blonde or brunette as long as you have moxie.
Blonde: Color | Bleach and Tone / Platinum Blonde + Cut | Shoulder length square bob with face-framing.
Brunette: Color | Color Correction + Cut | Disconnected bob with soft layers and micro bangs.
THE CUT: Long Aline Bob with sliced texture. The shorter you go the more upkeep your hair is going to take. Super short hairstyles require trims six to eight weeks to avoid the mullet look. This is the perfect cut to solve those problems and go into a growing out hair phase.
Does an itchy, flaky, dandruffy scalp have you in a puff? Try apple cider vinegar!
Apple cider vinegar helps restore and maintain the proper acid/alkaline balance (PH) of the scalp, and it even cleanses clogged pores. Feeling Adventurous? Add baking soda to exfoliate.
How To D.I.Y.:
- Mix 1:1 ratio of apple cider vinegar and water.
- Pour the solution in a spray bottle.
- Spritz it on hair and scalp, being careful to avoid eyes. Apple cider stings if it gets into the eyes. Ouch.
- Wrap hair in a towel and leave on 30 minutes.
- If you’d like to exfoliate your scalp, wrap hair in towel for 20 minutes and massage in baking soda for the last 10 minutes.
- Remove towel and rinse.
Note: Repeat as needed. You can also pour solution on hair and scalp, leave it for 15-20 minutes, then rinse.
Tipsy Hair Tuesday: How to help prevent greasy hair.
Your face, hands and fingertips produce oil throughout the day that can easily be transferred to your hair. To help prevent oily hair, avoid running your hands through it and wearing styles that let your hair fall in your face.
I’ll be in New York on April 21st to the 26th. If you’ll like a haircut or would like to meet up and paint the city black email me at email@example.com.

My favorite thing about doing hair is not always the cut, color or style, it’s the people I meet and the experiences we share. Meet Guinevere; When she isn’t busy writing or acting, she’s jet setting across the globe doing research, taking meetings, attending and judging film festivals. Every month she visits me and cracks me up, so I’ve decided to ask her a couple of questions on beauty and travel.
LL: When traveling do you bring a brush or a comb?
GT: My goal when traveling is always to travel light as possible, to be like a travel ninja. I’m always making hard choices. I think a small brush is a wise thing to bring, but only bring one hair appliance.
Number one for me is always a curling iron. You can air dry your hair, but you can’t air curl it.
LL: Do you do more hair pony’s or do you prefer to air dry and go?
GT: I can’t air dry and go. It’s about waking up early, so I can air dry. I’m very good at air drying. It’s not very pretty, there’s a lot of hair tossing, combing through, standing in front of a sunlight or fan, making sure it drys in a good shape. It’s an art. I suggest practicing it at home.
LL: What five products do you like to travel with?
GT: I like a multi-purpose oil. Palmers makes a skin oil. It’s cheap. You can use it on your face, body, and your hair, if you had to. I’m always looking for a multi-purpose product. Another thing that is important to bring, that may seem like a luxury, is your own soap.
Most places, even nice hotels, Airbnb’s will have soaps that kill my skin, and your own soap can also make you feel like you’re at home. For me, any shampoo will do; but bring your own conditioner, especially if you have dry hair.
LL: I agree!
GT: For me, almost anywhere I go, hairspray is superfluous. It’s always going to be a different climate. You’re just going to have to accept that the hair you are used to isn’t going to be, and go with hats and ponytails. Plus, if you’re traveling, you don’t want to spend so much time on your hair.
LL: When traveling, what is the one thing you tend to over pack? Socks, undies, extra T’s and is there a reason for it?
GT: I try to be so good. Every time I come home from a trip, I look myself and my suitcase in the eye,and I’m like, what didn’t make the cut? What did I not wear, that I always think I’m going to wear? It’s always fancy shoes!
An extra pair of shoes is my weakness, some sparkly shoes, I’ve only worn once. I’m like, why? In case, If someone asks me to look like a princess, I better be ready.
LL: I always bring a dress that never fits, and I think by taking it, it’ll fit and it’s going to look great!
GT: To me, packing is about being honest on what you really wear. I use to be like, this is really cute. No, you don’t wear this, actually just give it away and stop torturing yourself with it.
Red hair occurs naturally in 1–2% of the human population. Natural red hair retains its natural pigment a lot longer than other hair shade and is harder to color because it holds its pigment much firmer than any other hair color. Natural redheads also have less hair, on average have 90,000 strands, compared to blondes with 110,000, and brunettes with 140,000. Random Fact: Hitler reportedly banned ginger marriages, for fear of ‘deviant offspring’. #ridiculous
The Cut: Square a-line bob with textured layers.
The Color: Good genes.
Color: Bleach and tone and glossed with Silver. Cut: Trimmed off 3 inches of death and shaved side and cropped bangs. Style: Rough Blowdry for a natural look.
I would like to take the time to say, thank you. I’m really grateful for everyone who has believed in me, mentored and helped me grow in this journey we call life.
We’re taught to keep going and to keep wanting more, but what does that all really mean if we neglect the things that matter like ourselves and loved ones. So take the time and tell people you love that they matter, enjoy what you have today because it may not be there tomorrow.
In the quest of figuring it out, I realized how important it is to slow down and enjoy the process. Everything will happen as long as you continue to work towards it, whatever that may be. Work smarter, not harder.

Meet Jade, she’s quite stunning, she does hair, sells threads at Moon County Collective, and plays bass in a band called “Drinking Flowers,” check out their new album, Shadow Show on Lollipop Records.
The Cut: When I met Jade she had a round disconnected haircut with wispy ends, which looked like a shaggy bob. I decided I would cut off about 2 1/2 inches off the back, to create a fuller square bob. I texturized and blended her previous layers, so it would fall perfectly. In the front, I gave her what I call a “baby trim,” a baby trim is where you cut just enough to get the split ends off and let the hair play catch up with the rest of the hair because it has been over cut. The Color: Traditional bleach and tone, there was about 2 inches of regrowth.
Wake up, shower and don’t brush your hair. Wear your waves, crunch your curls, forget about your products because you’re probably out anyways.
I’ve recently become a fan of the beard. The bigger it is, the longer I stare.
Ally loves short hair with frosty pink lavender tips, so I wanted to play up her current cut and give her color a face lift without actually touching it. I chopped up and textured her hair by giving her a slightly disconnected graduated a line. The layers I created in front enhanced and drew more attention to her frosty pink lavender tips. A good haircut can make any color stand out.
Yes, it is true, I love bangs and bobs. My favorite type of bob is a square no layer bob.
Cut: The idea was something different and fun, so I began playing triangular Tetris. I started from the back and began building triangle shapes.
Color: Black with Blue Hues. Cut: One Length Haircut with Betty Paige Bangs. Style: Beach Wave Curl Blow Out
CUT: Long Layers with face framing. REMOVED: 5 inches. STYLE: Loose beach waves with lots of body.
Hair Color: Red, glossed with red violet. To create lots of depth and dimension, the bottom was lighten and pieced with fuschia and purple. Cut: Square layered haircut with lots of face framing. Style: Rough blow dry, for a clean undone look.
I recently had the pleasure of working with and Amy Pham and the Nylon crew for an Olay Fresh Effects shoot. You can also find me in the video acting silly and sporting an orange shirt!

For Record Store Day, Org Music has reissued Sun Ra‘s Outer Spaceways Incorporated. This Record Store Day exclusive edition is pressed on a psychedelic white/purple LP, and is limited to 1,500 units worldwide. I’m super excited about this album for two reasons, 1. Sun Ra is insane. 2. I was fortunate enough to co-design the album artwork with Alex Tenta.
